What there is to know

After four away games, the Knicks return home. They will face the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. Given that both men suffered a loss in their last match, they both have a little more motivation heading into this match.

Defenses reigned supreme when the Knicks and Nuggets played Thursday, rewarding bettors who took the risk on the low of 208.5 points. New York lost 113-100 to the Nuggets.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jalen Brunson, who nearly had a double-double with 26 points and nine assists. He hasn’t dropped below 26 points in four straight games.

The Knicks struggled to get the ball on offense and finished the game with just four offensive rebounds. It was the fewest offensive rebounds they had all season.

Meanwhile, the Nets’ recent rough patch got a little tougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a 115-108 hit in the loss column at the hands of Milwaukee. The Nets haven’t had much luck with the Bucks recently, as the team has come up short in the last four meetings.

Like the Nets, they lost despite the results of several players. Nicolas Claxton led the charge by nearly recording a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Less helpful for the Nets was Cameron Thomas’ dreadful 0-5 three-point shooting.

New York’s loss ended a five-game road winning streak and dropped them to 41-28. As for Brooklyn, they haven’t been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight games, which took a major dent in their 26-44 record this season.

In this competition, the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: the Knicks haven’t given up the ball easily this season, averaging just 12.4 turnovers per game. However, it’s not like the Nets struggled in this department as they averaged just 12.2 turnovers per game. Given these competing forces, it will be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Looking ahead, the Knicks are the favorites as experts expect them to win by 7.5 points. They might be worth a quick bet since they’ve covered the spread the last four times they’ve played in Brooklyn.
