Toronto plays without Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poetl, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and three others tomorrow, but does it still have a chance to cover the 12.5 point spread? Perhaps the better question is how will they stop Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo?

The New York sharpshooter scored a career-high 40 points on Monday, knocking down a team-high 11 three-pointers. 20 of his 23 field goal attempts came from beyond the arc, putting him eight threes short of the most three-pointers by a Knick since Evan Fournier hit 241 in the during the 2021-22 season. He’s not the only Knickerbocker to pose a problem for the Raptors.

Jalen Brunson scored 28 points on Monday and Josh Hart notched his sixth triple-double (11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists) since January. The backbone of New York’s team has chemistry from his college days at Villanova, which makes the Knicks a tough team to play against, regardless of location. They’re going to bury this depleted Raptors roster in three-point range, mixing in dunks and the occasional layup.

I’m betting the chemistry will reappear on Wednesday, giving New York enough juice to win and become a heavy favorite against tanking Toronto.

Prediction: Knicks -12.5

Betting Trends: The underscore is 27-13 when the Knicks are betting favorites (9-4 when they are road favorites). The under score is also 13-6 when the Raptors are home underdogs.

That total is low considering how hot the Knicks were on Monday (124 points on 51 percent shooting), but not surprising given New York’s pace of play and the number of players Toronto was missing. The slowest team in the NBA, the Knicks will use their stout defense and methodical offense toward a dominant victory on Wednesday, preventing the Raptors from reaching the 100-point mark. As effective as they were against Detroit, I’m not predicting another standout performance from New York on the road either. The Knicks have been held to 107 points or fewer in nine of their previous ten games, averaging 100.4 points per game in the nine games before Detroit’s loss on Monday.

Prediction: Under 209.5
