Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic dominated the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the first player to lead the tournament in points, rebounds, assists and steals. On his way to a bronze medal, Jokic also received help from several of his teammates.
Charlotte Hornets point guard Vasilije Micić played well for Serbia, sparking buzz about a possible NBA pairing between him and Jokic.
In a recent article, NBA insider Marc Stein wrote via his Substack:“With a salary of $7.7 million this season and an $8.1 million team option in 2025-26, Vasilije Micić continues to be mentioned as a potential trade target for Denver given Micic’s close relationship with Nuggets star Nikola Jokić. Keep in mind, however, that Denver is only about $5 million away from the second deck of the luxury tax and thus could not absorb Micić’s contract without the dreaded complications of the second deck.”
“The Denver Nuggets are reportedly interested in Vasilije Micic of the Charlotte Hornets. Micic is close friends with Nuggets star Nikola Jokic. The two are teammates on the Serbian national team.”

According to Micic, he would like to play with Jokic, but is not considering a trade.
“I’m staying in Charlotte,” Micic said Johnny Askounis from Eurphoops“It’s official. All these rumors that are going around, I didn’t want to comment on them until I had something concrete. There was probably some interest, but nothing conclusive enough for me to comment on. I’m happy that they want me here and I think the next season will be more productive for me.”
While he doesn’t expect a trade anytime soon, Micic said he would like to play with Jokic.

“I would like to play with Jokic, but I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Micic added. “I think I need another year to show what I can do in the United States. No matter what you do outside of the United States, they only trust players who have proven themselves in the United States. So I think one season with a transfer and two solid months is not enough for a team of this caliber to be sure to bring me here. But maybe next season. We’ll see.”
