Nikola Vucevic reached a new stratosphere on Wednesday evening.
With 8 points in the first quarter against the Utah Jazz, Nikola Vucevic officially joined the 15,000 point club. The big man became only the 21st active player to reach that threshold, and he is now 154th on the NBA’s all-time leading scorers list.
The Chicago Bulls also noted that Vucevic now joins LeBron James and Kevin Love as the only players with 15,000 points AND 9,000 rebounds. Is it impressive?
Vucevic has shown few signs of slowing down in recent years. Although his workload isn’t what it once was with the Orlando Magic, he has been one of the most consistent starting players since joining the Chicago Bulls. He averaged just under 18.0 points per game with around 11.0 rebounds in each of his first three seasons with the franchise.
All things considered, Vucevic still has several years ahead of him to continue adding to his total. The big man signed for two more seasons with the Chicago Bulls, and he proved to be a pretty healthy starting option. Granted, some of his offensive versatility has taken a hit due to a less effective 3-ball, but Vucevic undoubtedly remains one of the most dynamic scoring options at the position. His mid-range jump shot is smooth and his footwork in the post is among the best in the league. I’m not sure he gets enough credit for that anymore.
Either way, congratulations to Vucevic! This is a special and rare territory to join.
