THE summer arrival by Damian Lillard worked wonders for the Milwaukee Bucks. Although the eight-time All-Star had his fair share of ups and downs during his first season, there is no denying that his addition to the roster made the Bucks a more dangerous team.
Lillard’s arrival also significantly benefited Giannis Antetokounmpo. While some people might have thought the former back-to-back MVP’s numbers would decline now that he’s been paired with a true superstar, that has actually been the case. quite the contrary.
In fact, Giannis is now averaging a career-high 6.3 assists per game.

For his part, however, this is not a surprise for Antetokounmpo. In fact, the Bucks talisman has now challenged everyone who ever doubted his abilities as a playmaker. According to Giannis, those people simply didn’t pay enough attention:
“I’ve become a more willing passer this year because my teammates are pretty good, but I think I could still pass,” Antetokounmpo said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Coming into the league, it was my thing that separated me, but we didn’t have a lot of televised games and a lot of people didn’t pay attention to Milwaukee.
“So people see me pass now, it’s like, ‘Oh, he can pass!’ I passed. I’m Milwaukee’s all-time assists leader. ‘Oh, he can pass!’ Of course I can pass.”
No better argument will favor Giannis than bending his all-time Bucks franchise record for most career assists. This should put all doubt to rest.
However, as he said, having his teammates make their shots makes it a lot easier for him. Earlier this season, Giannis notched a career-high 16 assists in an incredible display of his passing prowess:
