The Olympics are a time when all the best basketball players come together for their country with the goal of winning a gold medal, but sometimes other things come from it. While building friendships with the players, there can also be recruiting players wishing to join their respective teams in the NBA. During the Paris Olympic Games, Tyrese Haliburton made sure to put his recruiting hattrying to get some of the Team USA players to join him on the Indiana Pacers.
“I’ve recruited pretty much every member of this team,” Haliburton told Indiana reporter Justin Marville. “If anybody wants to join us in Indiana, I’m all for it.”
Haliburton even mentioned that he himself was drafted, but there was no way he would leave the Pacers and the team they are building. He also believes that some of the other players on the team could join each other in the future.
“There’ll probably be something that comes out of it,” Haliburton said. “I’ve been recruited, for sure, but I’m not going anywhere.”
Haliburton has been fortunate enough to play with some of the best athletes in the world such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, and at 24 years old, he was absorbing everything he could to help his game and the way he carries himself.
“What I took away from them was how seriously they took their routines,” Haliburton said. “I saw them demonstrate routine, how they treat their bodies and how they’re able to do what they do at such a high level at their age.”
Even if Haliburton tried, there’s no way any of these players are leaving their respective teams anytime soon. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have good chances in Phoenix; Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White will be looking to win another championship in Boston; Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards, Bam Adebayo and Joel Embiid are their teams’ franchise players; and LeBron James and Anthony Davis don’t seem ready to leave Los Angeles.

The Indiana Pacers surprised many by reaching the Eastern Conference Finals to face the Boston Celtics. Throughout the season, they showed signs of being an underdog team that could make some noise, and acquisition of Pascal Siakam made their team even better.
This season, they will look to replicate that success in a conference that strengthened over the offseason and stay at the top of the standings. Over the last two years, Tyrese Haliburton has grown into one of the best point guards in the league, and he is ready to lead the Pacers to a potential championship.
