The LA Clippers have had many important and memorable players since Kawhi Leonard arrived. Being in a constant state of competition means that supporting players have been in and out of the Clippers facility all the time. Perhaps none of these role players have left a more lasting impression on fans than Patrick Beverley.
Known throughout his NBA career as a relentless perimeter defender, Pat Bev made a name for himself by frustrating opposing guards and making life difficult for them. His hard-working spirit and presence as a locker room leader made him one of the NBA’s most valuable veterans.
If you want proof of Pat’s impact outside of his Clippers career, just look at what he did for the Timberwolves during the 2021-22 season. Taurean Prince recently said that Beverley “laid the foundation” for this team’s current level of success with his leadership. Clippers fans were sad to lose him, and now the NBA as a whole is going to miss him in the upcoming season.
As many are now aware, Pat Bev has chosen not to accept one of the NBA’s many offers for the 2024-25 season. Instead, he has accepted a contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Beverley will continue his basketball career outside of the United States.
We have already seen Pat explain how training camp in Bulgaria has been with his new team so far. Now we have an additional video in which Beverley is showing off his skills during training with the team. At first glance, Pat has no trouble putting his repertoire to good use.
The video shows Beverley crossing and scoring over defenders, getting up to shoot and getting the ball to the cup. The highlights of the video show that he is as versatile offensively as we’ve seen him on the court.
Seeing him this polished isn’t a huge surprise considering the talent gap between the U.S. and Europe. There are still plenty of talented players overseas, but the NBA is still the best league in the world. It’s not uncommon to see an American player go overseas and become a more complete and valuable overall piece to a team.
