Friday competition between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls was a fiery affair. In the end, the Bucks dominated a Bulls side shorthanded113-97, en route to their fifth consecutive victory.

Chicago, however, took a physical approach to the game. Things got so heated that at one point a serious foul from big man Nikola Vucevic caused quite a commotion between the two teams before the Bulls center was expelled for his unsportsmanlike action.

Milwaukee Bucks Veteran Patrick Beverley Speaks Out About Altercation

Vucevic’s night ended early in the fourth quarter after the 6-foot-10 center was assessed with a flagrant foul 2 on Bucks guard AJ Green. As far as glaring mistakes go, this one is as obvious as it gets:

Bobby Portis and Patrick Beverley immediately rushed towards Vucevic after noticing the serious foul. Fortunately, cool heads prevailed and the incident did not escalate.

After the game, Beverley commented on the incident admitting to being surprised by the intense rivalry between the Bucks and Bulls:

“I just think the game of basketball is a physical game, obviously,” he said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I didn’t know how big the Milwaukee Bucks were against the Chicago Bulls until tonight. But that’s how the game is. It’s physical. You’re going to be hit. I like being the guy that goes out there and hits people instead of getting hit. So that’s it.”

For his part, Green hit the deck hard after the foul. However, he immediately got up and was seen quite excited after the play. The second-year shooting guard downplayed the incident after the game by showing his gratitude to his veterans for quickly coming to his defense:

“I was trying to go down, make a play,” Green said of the play. “That’s really it. I’m glad “BP” and Pat “Bev” have my back. It’s basketball. I’m fine, man. It’s perfect. It’s perfect.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo speaks on the toughness of the team

While Vucevic may have been the only one sent off in the match, there were several overly physical moments throughout the contest. DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond both committed fouls that were ruled hostile, while Alex Caruso and Ayo Dosonmu also took part in some form of action.

The Bucks did not back down, however. Beverley and Portis were their enforcers, so to speak, which drew praise from superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo after the match:

“Bullies? We were surrounded by bullies,” Antetokounmpo said. “Hey man, that feels good. I don’t mean to disrespect the game in any way, but I feel like I have a lot of passionate players, Bobby, Pat, Jae, AJ, Beasley, everyone. Stream. We have passion in us and we want to win. And sometimes, you know, we can hustle and push. Or be more physical than usual. But it’s good to have a team like this. We’re kind of trying to change the narrative here.
