Patrick Mahomes traded the NFL for the NBA this weekend, as he praised Kyrie Irving’s “greatness” and swapped jerseys with Luka Doncic after facing the Dallas Mavericks‘ victory at the buzzer on the Denver Nuggets.

The 28-year-old Chiefs quarterback, who won his third super bowl ring with Kansas City in February, was at the American Airlines Center on Sunday to watch the No. 7 seed Mavs play the defending NBA champions. The Nuggets are currently trading places with the Oklahoma City Thunder daily as first seed in the West.

Wearing a blue Louis Vuitton Dallas shirt, Mahomes sat courtside during the game with his wife, Brittany, who paired a Canadian tuxedo — an all-denim outfit — with white boots.

Together, they watched Doncic and Irving score 71 points in total.

Doncic had 37, along with nine rebounds and three assists, while Irving had 24 points, including a successful left hook shot from 20.1 feet with 2.7 seconds left.

The Mavs point guard also had seven rebounds and nine assists.

“Greatness, man. Greatness,” Mahomes told Irving after the game, when they met in the tunnel.

“Yes, sir,” replied Irving.

The 38-year-old forward engaged with Mahomes, 27, while waiting for the referee to hand him the basketball to make an inside pass.

Mahomes also went to greet Doncic after Irving’s epic goal, giving the Mavs star a signed Chiefs jersey with his name and number on the back.

“Great game, man,” he told Doncic, before referring to the playoffs, which begin April 20.

“Good luck with the release. I will come back here. Sure, man, enjoy it.
