The New Orleans Pelicans are scheduled to face the Detroit Pistons in the coming hours. While the Pistons (12-58) currently sit in last place in the points standings, the Pelicans (43-27) are fortunate to be ranked 5th.. Therefore, with only 12 games remaining in the regular season, the latter team must continue to maintain its position to qualify for the playoffs. However, their chances of achieving this have seen a decline recently, in light of star player Brandon Ingramthe injury. Having already missed two crucial matches, fans were waiting to find out if the player would appear to face Cade Cunningham and co.
A few hours ago, sports journalist Christian Clark took to his official X account to share an update on the recent MRI performed on Brandon Ingram. He declared that the “MRI revealed a left knee contusion for Brandon Ingram. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the Pelicans say. Given that it will be at least two weeks before a proper re-evaluation can be carried out, there is a good chance that the player will not be able to make it to the clash at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Brandon Ingram’s unavailability was also confirmed in the official injury report submitted by the Pelicans. Quoting the same, the official website of The NBA highlighted that “Five Pelicans players are listed as out, a group that includes Brandon Ingram (left knee bone bruise)”. The group also includes Dyson Daniels, who is suffering from a meniscectomy of his left knee). Other players like EJ Liddell, Malcolm Hill and Dereon Seabron were also ruled out.
On the Detroit Pistons side, shooter Quentin Grimes and forward Simone Fontecchio were excluded. How did Brandon Ingram develop his injury?
Before their recent game against the Orlando Magic, the New Orleans Pelicans were establishing a remarkable streak by winning 6 of their last 7 games. The team’s then 41-28 loss not only broke that streak, but also benched one of their most valuable players. During the third quarter, with the Pelicans trailing their rivals by 13 points, Brandon Ingram could be seen trying to stop Jalen Suggs from dropping the ball in the hoop. As Suggs charged, Ingram was hit and ended up extending his left knee. Fans were left dismayed as the player remained lying on the pitch, squeezing his knee hurt. Eventually, he had to be carried to the locker room by his teammates.

If the re-evaluation in the next two weeks eliminates Ingram, then the player will have a very good chance of playing his next game in the playoffs. First, the Pelicans will have to fill the void left by their teammate and secure a victory against the Pistons.
