The Chicago Bulls continue to lose pieces of their 2023-24 roster, a trend that didn’t stop as of the end of August.
While nothing will match the loss of superstar DeMar DeRozan, it’s worth noting that the Bulls’ departures extend beyond the top of the roster.
According to a report by NBA Insider Shams CharaniaThe New Orleans Pelicans sign forward Javonte Green to a one-year contract.
Green played in nine games for the Bulls last season, averaging 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds in 25.6 minutes.
Although the sample size is limited, Green recorded career highs in points scored, rebounds, steals and blocked shots.
He brings a veteran presence to one of the NBA’s youngest teams. Green, 31, is one of only three Pelicans players over the age of 30, along with point guard CJ McCollum (32) and center Daniel Theis (32).
Green is averaging 5.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists in the regular season.
He has made two playoff appearances, with the Boston Celtics in 2020 and the Bulls in 2022, averaging 1.7 points per game in limited action.
In a league that places a premium on shooting, Green has been a solid three-point threat over his career. In 195 games, he has converted 78 of his 226 three-point attempts (.345). Since the start of the 2022 season, Green is shooting over 36% from three-point range.
