As new Wizards head coach Brian Keefe continues to shape his roster with the help of management, it shouldn’t be surprising to see players leaving or joining the team leading up to the start of the season. According to a report from Josh Robbins of The Athletic, Eugene Omoruyi is on his way out of the Wizards’ lineup.
Washington Wizards expected to waive Eugene Omoruyi today, league source says @TheAthleticNBAOmoruyi’s $2.2 million salary for the 2024-25 season is not guaranteed, and waiving him would reduce the Wizards’ roster to 16 players, not including those on two-way contracts.

Omoruyi averaged 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game last season with the Wizards in 43 appearances. He was expected to make $2.2 million next year if he makes an NBA team, but that amount is not guaranteed. This trade simply helps the Wizards get their roster numbers where they need to be without any salary cap damage.
