The Philadelphia 76ers made massive changes this offseason. In an effort to build a team that could threaten Boston and potentially win the Eastern Conference, building that team around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, Daryl Morey went to work with an MVP and an All-Star already in hand.

This summer kicked off with the 2024 NBA Draft, which lacked consensus throughout the cycle and shockingly reshuffled the draft board in late June. The 76ers were able to pick up Duke point guard Jared McCain with the 16th pick in the 2024 draft.

McCain can provide a boost to Philadelphia’s bench unit and his overall ability to score with and without the ball gives him the versatility to help the 76ers carry the load over the course of an 82-game season.

Morey didn’t stop there, the biggest move of the NBA offseason came in the City of Brotherly Love, signing Paul George to a massive multi-year deal to give the 76ers a go-to trio joining Embiid and Maxey.

On paper, this team should be electric and one of the most fun to watch in the league. McCain should be able to handle the 82-game season.

It all starts on October 23 against the Milwaukee Bucks, which represents the Duke point guard’s debut and provides a glimpse into how the 76ers plan to use the rookie – against a projected contender, it will be interesting to see how Nick Nurse uses the youngster in a competitive situation.
