PHOENIX (AZ family) —The Phoenix Suns will travel hundreds of miles away to take on the Detroit Pistons for another exciting preseason game!
The Suns added a fifth preseason game and will now face the Pistons on Oct. 8 at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University.
The game will mark the first time the Suns have visited East Lansing and the first time in 24 years that Detroit has hosted a preseason game at the Breslin Center.
The game also has special meaning for Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia, a former Spartans player. Ishbia was a four-year member of the Spartans men’s basketball team and was part of the 2000 NCAA championship team.
“From being a backup at Michigan State on the national championship team, to now being able to bring the Phoenix Suns to play at the Breslin Center, this is a full-circle moment and an incredibly special experience,” Ishbia said in a statement. “MSU and Coach Izzo have had an immeasurable impact on my life and career, and I would not be where I am today, including ownership of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, without Coach Izzo’s mentorship. I look forward to bringing the Spartan community and the Phoenix Suns together.”
It will also be a reunion between Ishbia and Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores, who is also a Spartans alumnus!
Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. Arizona.
All pre-season games will be broadcast on the radio on Arizona’s Family and aired on Suns Live.
