Tatum set an All-Star Game record in February 2023 by scoring 55 points, surpassing the previous record set by Anthony Davis in 2017.
The Celtics star made 22 of 31 shots, while adding 10 rebounds and six assists, to lead Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team to victory and give LeBron James his first defeat being the match captain six times.
Tatum then became the fourth player to be named MVP of the game since the trophy was renamed in Bryant’s honor following his death in 2020.
That made the MVP win especially meaningful for Tatum, who has previously said he idolatrous Bryant as a young basketball player.
“It’s extremely special to me,” Tatum said after winning the award in February 2023, Dave McMenamin “My first All-Star Game was in Chicago in 2020, when they renamed the MVP after him, and I remember thinking that one day I’ll get a chance to have one like that,” ESPN reported.
Tatum will now be able to remember this moment every time he looks at his latest tattoo.
