The Pistons Academy Tour is in Traverse City this week to host one of their youth summer camps.
They traveled across the state this summer, hosting 14 different camps in the Detroit metro area and greater Michigan, and are wrapping up their summer of camps at Traverse City Central High School this week.
Campers receive NBA-level instruction in a fun, competitive atmosphere and were also treated to a show on day two when the Pistons brought in the “Extreme Team.”
Watching these high-flying hoopers dunk and flip off trampolines is a highlight for campers and parents alike.
“Our goal is to let them know that the Pistons are a team on the court and we work to be great on the court, but we always want to be great in the community. So we are a community resource, not just a basketball team.”
“The Extreme team, there’s no better show than what they put on. When you see these guys jumping off trampolines and the kids’ reactions are off the charts, they become rock stars” (Aaron Smith, Director of Youth and Engagement).
The one-hour dunk show concluded today’s session, with campers returning for the final day tomorrow.
Aaron Smith also says they will definitely be back next summer.
