The Detroit Pistons suffered a painful loss on the final possession against the Miami Heat 104-101. With the score tied at 101, center Bam Adebayo hit a game-winning triple to propel Miami to victory. Monty Williams, Pistons head coach expressed his emotion about coming up short in an intense match during his post-match press conference, via Bally Sports Detroit.
“I was just proud of how we stayed there. We just didn’t have the energy to play a team that was missing so many guys,” Williams said. “We talked about it at halftime and we didn’t really get to it until the middle of the third. Once we got it back, you started to see the team we know we can be.
THE The pistons fought back a deficit of up to 17 points in the third quarter. After rallying to tie the score in the second half, Detroit was unable to regain the lead over Miami. Williams talked about how the Pistons should be happy with the way they played.
“When you lose a game like that, it’s hard to blame the guys for anything. We fought when it didn’t look great. We executed some situations well defensively holding them to 25 points (in the fourth quarter),” Williams said. “The second half point total speaks for itself. We were lucky to win an important match at home.
