Former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is reportedly open to the idea of becoming the boss of the Pittsburgh Pirates, but in a hilarious speech on Thursday X, he explained why he would never get the opportunity.
After two seasons with 100 or more losses, the Pirates feel like the organization could finally be headed toward a stable playoff position. No doubt, rookie phenom Paul Skenes has a lot to do with that. But Oneil Cruz and other local products have also made big strides over the past two seasons.

It’s an exciting sign of hope for a long-suffering fan base. Especially since Bob Nutting took over the team nearly two decades ago. Under his leadership, the organization has prioritized profits over spending to improve the roster. Abusing MLB’s systems in place that almost reward owners for spending little. Of course, that led to many losing seasons.
Pirates fans have been eagerly awaiting a new owner, and on Thursday, Jon Linder, Miami Sports Radio host revealed some interesting details about a recent conversation with former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
“I spoke with Mark Cuban about buying the team in 2006,” Linder wrote in a message on X. “He loves the Pirates but says the owners will NEVER sell because of their business model. They don’t have to spend money so they never do and they make huge profits every year from TV and everything else. Lost cause.”

Mark Cuban Offers Hilarious Analogy About Pittsburgh Pirates Ownership
Shortly after Linder’s post on X, Cuban followed up with his own thoughts. And in his position On the social media platform, he offered a hilarious analogy about the current ownership of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“If someone offered you a job that paid $25 [million] “If you had to stand in Market Square and have the entire city of Pittsburgh scream at you, would you take that job?” Cuban wrote. “That job is owning the Pirates. Why would they sell?”
Cuban has been linked to the Bucks for years and is a popular figure in NBA circles due to his status as owner of the Mavericks. He sold majority control of the team last year. He would be a perfect owner for the Pirates. Unfortunately, fans may need a few winning seasons and the team’s value skyrocketing for their current owners to consider a potential sale.
