Victor Wembanyama has quickly made a name for himself since entering the NBA. As the number one pick in the last NBA draft, he was thrust into the spotlight and faced immense expectation.

During the Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs game, GG Jackson, a Grizzlies rookie, lost his shot to 7-foot-4 Spurs center Victor Wembanyama. As Jackson pushed toward the basket, Wembanyama’s monumental 8-foot wingspan swallowed up Jackson’s attack, leading to a spectacular counterattack and Wembanyama dunk.

The remarkable dunk sparked excitement on social media, leaving fans and popular YouTuber MKBHD in awe of Wembanyama’s skills.

Here’s a compilation of some of the best fan reactions to that thunderous dunk.

The Spurs faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies, whose rookie put on a power-packed performance for the fans. Despite his efforts, the Spurs could not secure the victory, as the Grizzlies made an impressive comeback and picked up a slim victory over the hapless Spurs.

Victor Wembanyama opens up after Spurs defeat

Victor Wembanyama’s potential game-winning three-pointer, taken at the buzzer, missed its target. As a result, the San Antonio Spurs missed a golden opportunity to pull off a remarkable victory against the often undermanned Memphis Grizzlies team.

While reflecting on the heartbreaking 99-97 loss, the highly prized talent couldn’t help but reflect on the missed opportunities beyond his last-second botched attempt.

“I didn’t get it done,” Wemby expressed his regrets to ClutchPoints, explicitly referring to the huge lead of nearly 20 points his team once enjoyed.

Even his seventh game of the season with 30-plus points, his third this month, wasn’t enough to rid the burgeoning talent of the feeling of wasted opportunities. As the first pick in last summer’s draft, Wembanyama regretted it deeply.

Due to his failure to “get it done”, Wembanyama drew attention to his team’s once comfortable 17-point lead in the second quarter.

“I remember a moment in the first half when we were well ahead,” Wemby recalls before reflecting on the missed opportunity.

“Once it hit me, I noticed the critical importance of maintaining our intensity regardless of our opposition. Whether we were playing against [Joel] Embiid or Giannis [Antetokounmpo], we must maintain the same competitive spirit. I intended to maintain such an intensity of play, so these are mistakes that I promise not to repeat,” promised the Spurs top scorer.
