The 2024 NBA season is fast approaching, with the full schedule having been released a week ago, it’s time to take a look at some debuts for the 2024 NBA Draft class.
Although the 2024 NBA Draft lacked consensus — and many believe it lacked stars — the Portland Trail Blazers made one of the biggest waves of the draft, selecting UCONN big man and two-time NCAA champion Donovan Clingan.
The Trail Blazers used the No. 7 pick in the 2024 NBA draft on Clingan, who averaged 13 points, seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks per game a year ago. The 7-foot-4 center appears to be a guard’s best friend as a screener, rounding out the Blazers’ core.
Portland will open its season against the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 23 before facing the New Orleans Pelicans in back-to-back games. It’s a tough first three-game series for Clingan, who will be facing the likes of Draymond Green and Zion Williamson on the court while potentially having to replace Steph Curry, CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray.
It will be a trio of must-tests for Clingan and company – seeing how the starting middle man will fare against the big boys of the modern NBA.
