Brooklyn Nets star Cam Thomas is entering his fourth NBA season, and his first as the Nets’ undisputed star. The 22-year-old guard averaged 22.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists last season, earning him the Most Improved Player award.
This season, Thomas will have the opportunity to play an even bigger role after Brooklyn traded Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in June. Unfortunately, that comes with a rebuild, and the Nets enter the 2024-25 season with a 19.5 total victory.
That means more touches for Thomas, even with Bridges he was still capable of hitting 22.5 points per game, and his numbers could increase even more with this opportunity.
The only flaw in Thomas’ game is his playmaking ability. He’s undoubtedly an elite scorer, but just 2.9 assists per game, even as a fullback, is particularly low considering the number of possessions he’d have as a primary option.
Given his stats from last season and where he is this year, we can expect Thomas to average around 26 points per game, four rebounds and four assists. The scoring would increase with his other stats, but as a shooting guard, don’t expect much other than scoring. Thomas should be primed for another impressive season with the rebuilding Nets.
