The Toronto Raptors’ 30th season of basketball will begin at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The NBA has released its regular season schedule Thursday and Toronto’s rebuild will begin against Eastern Conference contenders led by Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley on Oct. 23. Toronto has missed the playoffs in three of the last four seasons and won just 25 games last year, the team’s fewest since 2011-12.

Toronto’s first road game is Oct. 26 in Minnesota, a day after the new Philadelphia 76ers team, led by former head coach Nick Nurse and accompanied by Paul George, arrives in town. Toronto then hosts Kitchener’s Jamal Murray, three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 28.

Two unannounced regular-season games will take place between December 10 and 16 and will be announced after the conclusion of the Emirates NBA Cup group play. The Raptors will begin their group stage on November 12 in Milwaukee. Toronto will also face Detroit (November 15), Miami (November 29) and Indiana (December 3) in the tournament.

The schedule includes four games against division opponents, including two home and two away games. Four other Eastern Conference teams will also play twice at home and away (Cleveland, Detroit, Orlando and Washington). Three will play once at home and twice away (Atlanta, Chicago and Milwaukee) and three will play twice at home and once away (Charlotte, Indiana and Miami). Each Western Conference team will play once at home and once away.

Notable home games include LeBron James’ visit with the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 1, the defending champion Boston Celtics on Jan. 15 and Feb. 25, and Victor Wembanyama’s visit with the San Antonio Spurs on March 23. Hamilton’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder are in Toronto for the 10th annual Giants of Africa game on Dec. 5.

The longest home streak of the season lasts five games, from December 1 to 9, while the longest away trip lasts five games, from November 4 to 12.

The busiest days of the week for the Raptors this season will be Wednesday and Friday with 15 games each. Friday is the busiest day at home with nine games, while Sunday and Wednesday both have eight away games.

The Raptors’ busiest months are November, January and March, with 15 games. The busiest months at home are December and January, with eight games each, while the busiest month away is November, with 10 games played by Toronto away from Scotiabank Arena.

The Raptors will play 15 consecutive games this season (one more than last season). Of those games, five involve no travel.
