THE The Cleveland Cavaliers The Cavaliers will hold training camp at a prep school and athletic training facility in Florida called IMG Academy. Their training camp will run from October 1-6, and the Cavaliers are the first NBA team to hold training camp at the academy.
Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman released a statement regarding the news and expressed his gratitude to IMG Academy.
“The city of Sarasota and IMG Academy in Bradenton provide the perfect setting for our training camp this year,” Altman said. said“This is a unique opportunity for us to utilize a world-class facility away from our usual surroundings, providing an excellent setting to build team cohesion and culture. We extend our gratitude to the IMG Academy and the surrounding area for their warm hospitality in welcoming our organization. Their state-of-the-art facilities and supportive communities will be instrumental in helping us prepare for the upcoming season.”
IMG Academy COO Mike Milliron also released a public statement praising the academy’s campus experience.

The Cleveland Cavaliers “We are thrilled to welcome the Cavaliers to our world-class campus for their 2024-25 NBA training camp this fall,” said Milliron. “Our state-of-the-art environment, facilities, hospitality and IMG Academy’s proven track record of consistently hosting professional sports leagues, organizations and players make us an ideal partner for the Cavaliers as they prepare for their upcoming NBA season. We look forward to providing their staff and players with an unparalleled experience on the IMG Academy campus.”
According to a Cavaliers press release, details regarding the team’s training camp schedule will be revealed at a later date.
However, Cleveland’s preseason and regular season schedules have already been released in full. The Cavaliers’ preseason opener is scheduled for Oct. 8 against the The Chicago Bullsand Cleveland will begin its 2024-25 regular season with a game against the Toronto Raptors October 23.
The Cavaliers are certainly hoping that holding their training camp at the IMG Academy will help the team reach even greater heights than last season. Cleveland is coming off a successful season, with the team finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference and then winning its first playoff series since 2018 in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
While the Cavaliers have given fans of the team plenty to write home about, the way Cleveland’s run to the 2024 NBA Playoffs ended suggests the team still has plenty of room to grow.
The Cavaliers lost to the Boston Celtics in five games in the second round, and Cleveland lost both of its home games in the best-of-seven series, which took place in Games 3 and 4.
But if Cleveland had a healthy Donovan Mitchell for the entire series, perhaps the Cavaliers could have put up a better fight against the 2024 champions. He missed Games 4 and 5 with a calf strain.
