THE Brooklyn Nets The Brooklyn Nets are just a few weeks away from the start of training camp ahead of the 2024-25 season as the team looks to have a productive first year in their current rebuild. Like most rebuilding teams do, Brooklyn will use every opportunity they can to evaluate talent, and at this point, they are adding another player to the mix.
THE Nets announced Tuesday on X that they were signing a free agent guard Tyson Etiennebut did not specify the terms of the contract he was signed to. Given that the signing is taking place so close to training camp, it is possible that Etienne will sign an Exhibit 10 contract, commonly known as a training camp contract, to see how he fares among his NBA peers.
Etienne, 24came to the NBA after spending three seasons at Wichita State University, a tenure in which he not only earned two All-AAC nods but was also the AAC’s co-Player of the Year during the 2020-21 season. Etienne declared for the 2022 NBA draft, but went undrafted before being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks a summer league team that eventually led to him playing for the Hawks’ G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks.
Etienne, who stands 6’2″ and weighs 200 pounds, has spent the last two seasons playing for the Skyhawks and it appears his game is progressing quickly. For the 2023-24 campaign, Etienne has averaged 1.88 m (0.67 mpg) 11.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game on 43.5 percent field goal shooting and 36.4 percent three-point shooting.
