It’s no secret that the Houston Rockets are loaded with young talent. Frankly, that’s how it should be after a rebuild that saw players primarily come through the draft.
Especially when a team is selected in the top five in the draft for four consecutive years.
At least if you write correctly.
The downside is that not everyone will be able to stay in the franchise for long. There are only a limited number of spots available.
And the salary cap means that not everyone will get a contract extension. But again, it all depends on each player’s ability to recruit.
The good thing is that someone will always want to trade your young players. Especially competing teams, which are often led by veterans and lack young talent on team-friendly contracts.
The Rockets will draw particular interest from around the league as the team is rich at the position. One of them, Tari Eason, has been linked to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Nicolas Kyle Pring of Sixer Sense mentioned Eason as a potential short-term target for the group led by Daryl Morey.
“The Western Conference is incredibly deep right now, with only one or two teams expected to be in the lottery next season. One club in particular that should be in the thick of the playoff race is Houston, which is coming off a solid season in 2023-24 thanks to an overall improvement from its young guns and solid veteran play.
That being said, the Rockets are likely eager to add more pieces to their offering. Coupled with their embarrassing wealth of forward-looking cogs, their management could soon be looking to shore up their young players for a key player who could help them turn the corner.
Tari Eason could be a potential pick if that happens, and he should be on Philadelphia’s radar right away. The 76ers have the assets to create a solid trade package to entice the Rockets, and the team also has a real need for his skill set. While his offense needs major adjustments, his defense and rebounding are top-notch for his position. Best of all, he’s only 23 years old.”
Eason missed a good chunk of the 2023-24 season, but he shined as a rookie, playing in all 82 of the Rockets’ games. But then again, the franchise is deep at the wing position and not everyone will be there to stay.
If the Rockets decide to trade him at some point, the Sixers will surely be an interested suitor.
