It is become more and more evident in social media posts of Houston Rockets In recent weeks, the team has begun using its long-awaited new training and practice facilities.

Tuesday, according to a seasoned journalist Kelly Iko of The AthleticFans have had official confirmation. When training camps for the 2024-25 NBA season open on October 1, the Rockets will be showing up at their new facility.

Indeed, as expected, the Rockets have a new state-of-the-art training and practice center opening this season. Financed by owner Tilman Fertitta, the $70 million project is located just minutes north of the Post Oak Hotel — also owned by Fertitta — along Houston’s I-610 West Loop.

Since the Toyota Center opened in 2003, the Rockets have practiced on a single practice court in the same building. But Fertitta, who bought the franchise in October 2017, has consistently expressed his desire to build a new facility with multiple practice courts and a superior training infrastructure.

With the new 75,000-square-foot facility, the Rockets say they have tripled the size of their previous venue. Executive and basketball operations staff offices are also moving to the new complex, with vacant space at the Toyota Center being repurposed for the organization’s business operations.

In recent years, with training camp rosters bigger than during the regular seasonThe Rockets had opened their camp in regional locations away from Houston with more space – like facilities in Galveston or on the McNeese State University campus in Lake Charles, LouisianaBut with all the amenities they could need now under their own roof, they are staying home to begin the 2024-25 campaign.
