In a clash between two of the best teams in their respective conferences, the Cleveland Cavaliers managed to bring down the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-104 in overtime.
Rudy Gobert finished the game with 7 points and 17 rebounds but was ruled out with 27.8 seconds left in regulation time committing a sixth foul. Responding with a financial gesture, he was given a technical foul that sent Cleveland to the line, tying the score at 97-97 and extending the game.
In the process, the French center blamed himself for having forced the extension. “I should not have done that. I cost my team the game and obviously they were eager to give me some tech. It was bad. It was an immature reaction.”he commented on his attitude at the end of the match.
He later explained his thoughts extensively. “I know betting and all that is getting bigger and bigger, but that shouldn’t be the case. I think it hurts our game.”he said while commenting that he expects a fine for being “Again the bad guy saying what I think is the truth”.
Minnesota is currently 2nd in the Western Conference with a 44-19 record, just one win away from the top spot. THE Oklahoma City Thunder govern it 44-20. Rudy Gobert played a major role in Timber wolves‘ success so far averaging 13.8 points and 12.9 rebounds per game.
