Earlier in the week, we ran a poll conducted by SB Nation. I chose to focus my questions on recent Dallas Mavericks‘ to debate. We asked three questions, and then there was an additional MVP voting question that I’m including at the bottom.
The first question was about who is responsible for the recent problems in Dallas (they lost 5 of 7):

This is a very strong poll result with nearly 9 out of 10 respondents holding Jason Kidd responsible for the Mavericks’ recent losses. It’s WILD. And I don’t disagree! This is because our fanbase is often capricious!
The next question was direct: Do you expect Jason Kidd to remain the head coach? I left it open ended, it could mean this season or beyond. The answer was clear:

The Mavericks are a slow-moving organization, to be kind. When only one in three fans think Kidd will stay as head coach is fascinating. I wish they would move away from him, but I just don’t see them doing it, even with a new owner.
The last question I asked was about frustration. Which side of the ball is the most frustrating to watch?

More than 9 out of 10 respondents are very frustrated with Dallas’ team defense. Kidd says the offense plays a role in how the defense plays; I think he is right. Dallas needs to score the ball better and maybe the defense will step up a little.
The last survey question I’m sharing was part of the national survey organized by our parent sites. He asks about the MVP and the results make sense to me.

Well I lied, even more stupid Celtics fans think Jayson Tatum is an MVP candidate, that’s not the case. The leaves Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic. We’ll see how things develop in the final part of the NBA season.
