Before the The Philadelphia 76ers In launching “The Process,” they tried to compete in the Eastern Conference with a ragtag group of high-quality role players. Those teams were led by Andre Iguodala, who made his only All-Star appearance with the franchise in 2012.
The Sixers selected Iguodala with the ninth overall pick in the 2004 draft, where he quickly developed into an athletic and versatile forward. He spent eight years with the Sixers before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2012.
In this offseason lull, the NBA has decided to create several trends on social media to keep fans interested in the league. Last week, they launched the hashtag #DunkWeek, and several teams’ social media accounts decided to participate in the trend.
THE Philadelphia 76ers on SI The show is available on streaming platforms Spotify, Apple and Amazon.
The Sixers were among the teams to capitalize on the trend, releasing some old videos of Iguodala. They were highlights of his 2006 dunk contest, where he ultimately fell short to Nate Robinson.
Iguodala’s athleticism was on full display in the dunk contest, with numerous windmill and between-the-legs dunks. He even called on Sixers legend Allen Iverson to help him with one of his dunks, but it wasn’t enough to earn him the trophy.

After leaving the Sixers, Iguodala had a brief stint with the Nuggets. He eventually found a long-term home with the Golden State Warriors, where he was a part of four championship teams. The highlight of Iguodala’s tenure there was being named Finals MVP in 2015.
After the 2023 season, Iguodala has decided to end his career after nearly two decades in the NBA. Today, he co-hosts the Point Forward podcast with his former Sixers teammate Evan Turner.
