The Sixers have opted for a tropical training camp in 2024.
The team announced Monday that it will hold its camp this year from Tuesday, Oct. 1, to Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Bahamas. The paradise island of Atlantis Media day will be held on September 30 at the Sixers’ training complex in Camden, New Jersey.
Eric Gordonone of the veterans recruited by the Sixers this offseason, played for the Bahamas during the summer as the country aimed to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Buddy Hield too, who transferred from the Sixers to the Warriors in a trade in July.
The trip to the Bahamas will be the Sixers’ third straight training camp away from home. They aim to travel to Charleston, South Carolina, in 2022 and Fort Collins, Colorado, last season in head coach Nick Nurse’s first year. Paul George, nine-time All-Star winger is among the new Sixers pieces that Nurse will coach.
“I put a lot of emphasis on training camp,” Nurse said on July 23. “I think we typically come out of training camp quickly. That’s really the crux of your practice time and I expect this to be no different. We’re going to be prepared to use every ounce of time wisely to get our guys ready to play.”
While the Sixers have yet to officially announce a full preseason schedule, they have five known preseason games at this time:
Their regular season schedule will begin on October 23 with a game at the Wells Fargo Center against the Bucks.
