Last season, the Spurs ended their longest losing streak against the Grizzlies. The number of games lost was 13. as Memphis seemed to have an answer for everything San Antonio threw at them. There were even games where the Silver and Black would win, only to give up the lead and lose in the most painful way possible. But that’s over now, and the focus is on the next team with longest win sequence against the Spurs: the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Spurs were pretty friendly bullies—as a team that didn’t trash talk—but they were bullies nonetheless, especially to the Clippers. In 2010, the Spurs won 18 straight games, and in 2001, they won 15 straight games against the Lakers’ little brother. San Antonio used to go on big win streaks against multiple teams during the Tim Duncan era, but those days are long gone.

But Victor Wembanyama is here now. If he continues to improve his game, he can start to establish his dominance in the same way. Teams need to understand that there is a good chance you will lose a game when they have the Spurs on their schedule, and right now, the Clippers haven’t lost to the Spurs in over two years, and Kawhi Leonard missed one of those games.

In four of those games, San Antonio lost by more than 20 points, and in two of them, the margin was greater than 35 points. Paul George is no longer a member of the Clippers, bringing their super team back to Earth, and the Spurs will start the season in better shape than they have been in. It’s time to end this streak and show every team in the NBA that San Antonio is once again a force to be reckoned with.

The San Antonio Spurs will face the LA Clippers on November 4 at the Clippers’ new arena, the Intuit Dome.
