Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has repeatedly said that he wants to spend his entire NBA career with one team. While he also wants to compete for more titles, it’s quite possible that both goals won’t be possible.

With his All-NBA campaign last season and his performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, it’s reasonable to believe that Curry, 36, can still be the best player on a championship team. That said, every superstar needs a championship-caliber supporting cast to achieve that goal, and Curry doesn’t have one right now.

That has led some to wonder how much patience Curry will have with Golden State as the only NBA franchise he’s ever known continues to struggle to find him an established second option.

During a recent appearance on the Today Show, Curry reiterated that his plan is to retire in Golden State.

“I certainly hope so,” Curry said. “I’ve been here 16 years. I’ve always said my goal is to finish my career with this organization … I want to keep winning, obviously, and I know we’ve got a few more days to do that.”

It will take a major leadership change for Golden State to get back into contention, as its current roster is far from up to par. After missing the playoffs last season, Golden State made only marginal changes this summer, losing Klay Thompson and bringing in a few role players to round out its rotation.
