The warriors always feel confident heading into the 2024-25 season, which will be the age-37 season for superstar point guard Stephen Curry.
Curry has made it known that he wants retire a warriorbut he also wants to try again for a fifth title before finally giving it all up. That’s probably why he played a key role in the quest for a superstar winger this offseason.
According to Anthony Slater of The AthleticCurry attempted to sign former Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George to Golden State. George had a player option for the 2024-25 season, and he could have chosen to be traded to another team.
However, the Clippers reportedly didn’t want to trade George to Golden State, so in the end he declined his player option and signed a four-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

No matter how much recruiting work Curry and Draymond Green did, the decision wasn’t exactly George’s to make. Green revealed more about the team’s failure to sign George earlier in the offseason on his podcast, accusing the Clippers of not wanting to “play the game” with Golden State.

“I’m a little upset about it because, as you all know, Paul George was going to come to the Warriors. We wanted Paul George to come to the Warriors,” Green said. “For us to get Paul George, it would have taken a trade and the Clippers didn’t really want to play the game. They didn’t really want to help him get where he wanted to go, and so in return, they didn’t get anything in return.”
Without George, and after their failed attempt to sign All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen, the Warriors will likely enter camp with their current roster. The Warriors went 46-36 and lost in the first round of the play-in tournament a year ago. They’ll hope to have better luck in 2024-25 in the final years of Curry and Green’s careers.
