Seeing Stephen Curry wear a Charlotte Hornets jersey, or any jersey other than a Golden State Warriors one, would probably be too surreal. He seems like one of the few superstars who would rather end his NBA career playing for just one team.
However, netizens noticed that Curry had edited his Instagram bio by removing “Warriors Guard” and replacing it with “Olympic Gold Medalist.”

While the two-time NBA MVP likely just wanted to celebrate his success in his first and likely only appearance at the quadrennial event, his future in Golden State is suddenly in question.
Most of the speculation has centered around the possibility of Curry teaming up with his Team USA rival and friend LeBron James. However, some Hornets fans probably have a different idea: why not Charlotte?
The four-time champion may have been born in Ohio, but he grew up in Charlotte. His father, Dell, played for the Hornets franchise and was even a fan favorite in the Queen City.
Another reason some Hornets faithful are hoping to lure the prodigal son is that he has already talked about bringing his talents to Charlotte.
When he was handed the keys to the city in 2022, the younger Curry said he was looking forward to finishing his career with the Warriors. However, he later clarified that if there was one team he would have wanted to play for other than Golden State, it would be the Hornets.

The Olympic gold medalist didn’t make any promises, especially considering the Warriors had just won the title a few months before he made his statement. But a few years later, his team seems in a bit of disarray after missing the 2024 playoffs and losing Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks this offseason.
It could be difficult for Charlotte to land the future Hall of Famer, as the potential roster target is under contract with Golden State through the end of the 2025-26 campaign. And if he requests a trade from his Howetown team, the Hornets could have to give up LaMelo Ball to match salaries.
Of course, this is just speculation. Maybe the young Curry really has no intention of leaving the San Francisco Bay Area and just didn’t want his Instagram bio to be too long. Either way, fans probably just want overcoming grief to see the Hornets stay in the cellar.
