Guess who is go back to the NBA. Isaiah Thomas is back in the big leagues, this time with the Phoenix Suns, as Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

“IT is back: 11-year veteran and two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas is considering signing a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Thomas averaged 33 points on 45 percent 3-point shooting for Salt Lake City in the NBA G League, scoring 30 points in four games.

Thomas last saw action in the NBA during the 2021-22 NBA season when he was signed by the Charlotte Hornets to a couple of 10-day contracts at the end of the campaign. During the 17 games in a Hornets uniform, Thomas on average 8.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists, while shooting just 43.3% from the field in 12.9 minutes per outing. He also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks during the same season.

Before the announced transaction with the Suns, Thomas showed that he still had there’s a lot left in the tank when he had a fantastic performance with the Salt Lake City Stars, averaging 32.0 points, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 37.3 minutes per game.

Although he shot just 37.9 percent from the field with the Stars, he was a lethal weapon from deep, where he knocked down 40.9 percent of his attempts on 14.7 tries per game.

“Thomas has totaled performances of 32, 30, 34 and 34 points in his four G League games for Salt Lake City, making 25 of 56 three-pointers, and is now ready to give the Suns a shot, a playoff experience and veteran leadership,” added Charania.

Of course, Thomas won’t enjoy as many minutes and usage with the Suns, but he’s familiar with the Phoenix environment, having played in 46 games for the Pacific Division franchise during the 2014-15 season.
