This season in the NBAPhoenix Suns star Kevin Durant will be the beneficiary of a strange peculiarity in the NBA schedule. Durant will return to Austin, Texas, in February when the Suns face the San Antonio Spurs.
San Antonio to host their third annual I-35 Series at the Moody Center in Austin, on the campus of the University of Texas. Durant attended Texas for his only year of college basketball, so this will be a homecoming for the 14-time All-Star.
“The Spurs return to Austin for their third annual I-35 Series, presented by Alienware and Netspend, and will play back-to-back home games at the Moody Center during the Rodeo Road Trip for the first time in team history. The I-35 Series kicks off when the Spurs host the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, February 20 at 8:30 p.m..”
Durant was the true definition of a star while at Texas, helping the Longhorns to a 25-10 overall record. Texas made the NCAA Tournament but was eliminated in the second round by the USC Trojans.
He averaged 25.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.3 points for the Longhorns in his lone season. For his incredible play throughout the year, Durant was named National College Player of the Year, Big 12 Player of the Year, USBWA National Freshman of the Year and was named a consensus first-team All-American.

Durant also had his No. 35 jersey retired by the Longhorns, making his return even more special. He ended up being selected second overall by the Seattle Sonics in 2007. NBA Draft after declaration.
The Suns-Spurs matchup in Austin should provide a solid basketball game, as the Spurs are expected to be much more competitive this year. With the sophomore sensation Victor Wembanyama develops furtherSan Antonio feels like a team ready to contend for the playoffs.
Veteran leader Chris Paul is also with the Spurswhich gives the team more credibility going into the season. Phoenix will be looking to turn things around after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last year.
