Phoenix Suns beginner Ryan Dunn recently linked to Kevin Durant in the gym and had the opportunity to work with his new teammate and other players on the field.
Dunn was selected 28th overall after averaging 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals on 54.8 percent shooting last season as a sophomore at Virginia. He was named to the All-ACC Defensive Team after finishing 11th in the country in blocked shots.
The 21-year-old continued a busy offseason in preparation for his rookie campaign with the Suns. He was spotted working out one-on-one with Durant, Golden State Warriors Before Moses Moody And Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reidamong others.
Dunn made his debut with the Suns in the NBA Summer League, averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals on 34.4 percent shooting in four appearances. He had his best game on July 19 with eight points and six rebounds.
The 6-foot-11 point guard established himself as a top-notch defender in college and should take that ability to the next level. He’s worked hard on his offensive package this offseason and appears to have improved his jump shot.
The Suns have championship ambitions and a new coach in Mike Budenholzer, so it’s unclear how much time Dunn will play this season. However, he has the potential to carve out a spot in the rotation with his ability to impact games on both ends of the floor.
