The NBA has revealed its regular season schedule for the 2024-25 regular season. As a result, we now know 80 of the Sacramento Kings’ 82 regular season games (the other two will be determined based on the course of the Emirates NBA Cup).

As you may have noticed from the title, we’re going to be looking at some of the most important games of the Kings’ regular season. But before we do, I want to make it clear that I’m a big believer in the school of thought that all games/minutes/possessions are created equal. Talk to any coach, no matter what level, and they’ll tell you that a random game played on a Tuesday in November is just as important as the last game of the season when it comes to the win-loss column.

But I recognize that some games are more important for drive and morale than others (remember, this is a game played by humans, not robots), so it’s worth engaging in an exercise like this. However, given the extremely arbitrary nature of this analysis, I’m not ranking these games from least to most important. These are simply a handful of games that I find particularly significant.

Now, without further ado, here are the six most important games of the Kings’ regular season.

We have sort of already discussed The importance of this game is discussed in another article. But in case you missed it (or just don’t feel like reading the article I hyperlinked to in the previous sentence), here’s the elevator pitch.

This game marks the Kings’ season opener, their first home game, the first time they have DeMar DeRozan on their team, and it’s a game against one of the teams that represented their side of the bracket in the Western Conference Finals. This is their chance to start the season strong, make their fans happy, prove that trading DeRozan was a good idea, and dethrone one of the projected top dogs in the West.
