The Timberwolves are still without Karl-Anthony Towns and may not have Rudy Gobert against the Jazz tonight. That won’t matter to Anthony Edwards, who has been a force of nature as the focal point of Minnesota’s offense.
Even with injuries to their global frontcourt, the Minnesota Timberwolves continue to hold their own.
After knocking out the Utah Jazz on Saturday night, Minnesota is back in Salt Lake tonight, looking to complete a four-game season against the Jazz in what would be a franchise first.
They are listed as 8-point favorites in the NBA odds, facing a Utah team faltering down the stretch, losing four of its last five and 12 of its 15.

With Karl-Anthony Towns out for at least a month with a knee injury and Rudy Gobert out with a rib injury, Anthony Edwards took the reins, guiding the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 119-100 victory against the Utah Jazz.
Edwards finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks. Backyard Companion Mike Conley I took 25 and made a big backup Naz Reid entered the starting lineup with 22 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. They still dominated the paint with their depleted frontcourt, outscoring the Jazz 56-46 from deep, while drilling an impressive 19 of 41 from distance, a net clip of 46.3%, outscoring the Jazz by 39 in that category.
The question is how well the Timberwolves, battling with the Nuggets and Thunder for first place in the West, can hold on as injuries continue to hamper this make-or-break season. Gobert, forward Kyle Anderson (shoulder) and backup Monte Morris (hamstring) are all questionable for Monday.
The Jazz aren’t operating at full strength either, with sixth man Jordan Clarkson (groin) and All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen (quad) also questionable tonight.
This season’s matchups haven’t been particularly close, with the Jazz losing all three by double digits, with the closest margin of defeat being 11 points. While the Jazz shot a more respectable 45.8% from the field, the Wolves’ top-rated D field goal shooting limited them to a dismal 40.7% shooting in three games.
Utah’s inability to succeed from 3-point range is a major problem against the NBA’s highest-scoring defense. He’s made just 29 of 103 attempts against Minny this season, a paltry mark of 28.2%.
Minnesota has won five of the last six meetings overall and has covered in four. Even with question marks dotting their roster, expect the Timberwolves to continue cooking while the Jazz continue their roster evaluations, finding out who might be in the plans for next season and beyond.

The books expect Conley’s performance to return to average, with his point total set at 13.5 points after eclipsing 20 points in consecutive games for the first time this year. I tend to agree. Before this mini streak, Conley had only surpassed that total twice in his previous seven games, scoring in single digits five times. Conley scored a combined 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting in two previous matchups against his former team.
Edwards has shouldered the added burden of being the man without a KAT, averaging 31.2 points over the last five games, just a shade below his total of 31.5. Ant has big scores, including a 44-point bomb at Indiana and a 37-point explosion against the Clippers.
Both times he struggled offensively during this stretch, so did the Timberwolves, losing decisions to the Lakers (25 points) and Cavaliers (19 points), while shooting a combined 17 of 50 from the field (34%).
Edwards keeps Minnesota going while healthy. I don’t see anyone on the Jazz slowing him down.
