The 26-year-old signed an NBA contract with Charlotte about a year ago, but the Hornets then waived him on August 30.

Simmons played in 23 games for the G League’s Raptors 905 this season, averaging 15.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 31.6 minutes per game.

Simmons has 38 games of NBA experience with the Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers and Hornets. He has a career average of 5.3 points, 1.9 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game.

In the meantime, Jahmi’us Ramsey’s the second 10 day contract expired today. There was speculation that the Raptors would sign him for the remainder of the season, especially given how well he played.

However, Toronto has decided to go in a different direction here and will reward another guard who had a great season with 905.

The Raptors could look to give as many guys a look as possible here as they close out their season.

Toronto has lost a season-high 10 straight games, and they will continue to be without their key players.

This latter part of the season allows players like Simmons to prove themselves as the Raptors go through their rebuild.

Next up for the Raptors

The Raptors will look to end their 10-game losing streak when they host the Brooklyn Nets on March 25.

This will be the third meeting between the two teams this season. The season series is currently tied 1-1.
