Utah Jazz Second-year star center Walker Kessler does not appear to be part of the team’s long-term plan, according to Eric Pincus.

Kessler averaged around nine points, eight rebounds, two blocks and one assist in his two years in the league. Kessler was also ranked third in the 2023 Rookie of the Year award and was also named First-Team All-Rookie that year.

Kessler probably isn’t part of the team’s long-term plan because of the number of big men they already have. They also drafted Kyle Filipowski out of Duke, who is a monster center who can protect the rim, advance the ball inside, grab rebounds, and shoot from deep. Kessler is more of a traditional center, so he doesn’t have Filipowski’s skill set.

As for his possible first destination? The New Orleans Pelicans are in desperate need of a center, and there have been rumors that Utah a surprise destination for All-Star forward Brandon Ingram.

Wherever he goes, Kessler will provide a solid presence inside, and he still has plenty of time to grow and improve.
