THE Utah Jazz finally made things official regarding their signing of Patty Mills earlier in the offseason.
According to a team statement, the Jazz signed Mills to a contract through the 2024-25 season.
We first heard about the signing in August when ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski, an insider revealed that Mills and the Jazz had agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract, but now pen has officially been put to paper with the team’s release taking shape.
Mills spent his final season spending time with the Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heataveraging 4.0 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 38 games played. He now hopes to take his talents to Salt Lake City for what will be his 16th professional season.
Mills brings considerable experience to one of the youngest teams in the association. The former San Antonio Spurs The guard won an NBA championship in 2015 and remained a steady backcourt option in the league for over a decade with nearly 900 games played.
As for what we’ll see from Mills in his upcoming campaign in Utah, his impact is a bit unclear at the moment. While his veteran presence and playmaking ability could be valuable to this Jazz team, the roster has several young, talented guards who might be better served getting extra PT over their new recruit.
Our first chance to see Mills on the court for the Jazz will come soon, as Utah’s season begins in just over a month – scheduled to kick off Oct. 23 against the Memphis Grizzlies.
