The Golden State Warriors have indeed already started their playoffs. Mired as the 10th seed in the Western Conference, Golden State has virtually no margin for error down the stretch to stay within game range. And Draymond Green needlessly fueled the Houston Rockets’ fire – the only team from the West with a legitimate chance to chase down the Warriors.
After the Warriors’ discouraging 114-110 road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night, Green was asked about his level of concern for the young Rockets. As of this writing, they have won 10 of their last 11 games, emerging behind the brilliance of young Jalen Green. As it stands, Houston is just one game behind Green’s Warriors. for this last play-in spot in the Western Conference.

Hoo, man, that’s probably the last something I would say in public as my veteran team struggles to stay afloat in a playoff race. It’s one thing for Green to say that privately to his teammates in the locker room. But saying that in public, so casually dismissing a young, promising team that’s brimming with confidence right now, is probably a huge mistake.
The Rockets were already trailing the Warriors. Now, with Green’s nonchalant comments in mind, a de facto April 4 playoff matchup between these two teams just got a lot spicier. Hell, Houston could be the team to completely knock the Warriors out of the playoffs. From that perspective, Green better hope the Rockets don’t make him eat his words.
