THE Golden State Warriors The Warriors made several moves to improve their margins this offseason. With other assets to trade, the Warriors may not be done yet.

They are looking for a superstar but have been unable to do so thus far. They could also use size, as the Warriors’ forward line is undersized. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report has proposed a deal that would help solve that problem, proposing a deal involving Clint Capela of the Atlanta Hawks.

The warriors would receive: Chapel

The Hawks would receive: Moses Moody, Gary Payton II, Kevon LooneyAtlanta’s 2026 second-round pick

“There were times last season where the Warriors looked undersized and overmatched at center. So far, they’ve simply carried that weakness over into the new season, as they’ve left the position largely untouched this offseason, save for adding Quinten Post with the 52nd pick.

“Adding Capela into the mix would suddenly give the Dubs legitimate size (6’10”, 240 lbs), length and athleticism up the middle,” Buckley wrote The 30-year-old is a walking double-double who could add both rim protection and a reliable short-range finish. He may not be the kind of star Golden State has been trying to make, but he would be a notable addition. Overall, Capela’s clubs have scored 3.4 points per 100 possessions better with him than without him over his 10-year career.

Is Capela better than Looney?

The Golden State Warriors sending Moody, Payton II and Looney to the Atlanta Hawks for Capela would be giving up a lot for an aging player in the final season of his two-year, $45.9 million contract.

Last season, Capela averaged 11.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25.8 minutes per game. He shot 63.1 percent from the field.

Looney played just 16.1 minutes per game, his fewest since the 2019-20 season. He averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists. When the 28-year-old started 70 of 82 games and played 23.9 minutes per game two seasons ago, his numbers weren’t far off Capela’s. Looney averaged 7.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Capela is 6-foot-10, while Looney is 6-foot-9, so there isn’t much of a height difference.

By sending Moody in this package, the Warriors would also be getting rid of one of their young assets, who they could use in a trade for a star player in the future.

Other options for warriors to explore

If the Golden State Warriors want to upgrade the center position, they could offer a similar trade package for another player.

A player like Walker Kesslerwho is much younger than Capela, might be a better candidate. On August 23, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report reported that he “doesn’t appear to be a part of” the team. Utah Jazz long term plans.

“According to multiple sources, Utah has already discussed Kessler in connection with a trade, notably with the New York Knicks, which has not yet been completed. He does not appear to be part of the team’s long-term plan,” Pincus wrote.

Last year, in his second season in the NBA, Kessler averaged 8.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. He was named to the All-Rookie Team in his first season.

At just 23 years old, he could also be part of the Warrior’s long-term future.
