The Golden State Warriors’ surge in February quickly became a distant memory. Golden State went 13-3 in the 30 days beginning Feb. 1, with one of those losses coming in overtime. It’s not just that the Warriors had an easier streak – although facing tank teams like the Raptors, Hornets, Grizzlies and Jazz twice certainly helped – as they also had a score of 12-4 against the spread.
Since then, Golden State has stumbled to a 4-6 record and is suddenly in danger of even missing the Play-In tournament. A loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight as a 2.5 point underdog in the NBA Odds would reduce the Warriors’ cushion to just one game.
To some extent, every NBA team should want to be the one that pushes Golden State over that ledge. Someone needs to kill the dynasty once and for all and the Timberwolves would be happy to help that cause.
At home and with a rest advantage, maybe Minnesota should be favored by more than a bucket tonight, so let’s take the small home favorite in our free program. NBA Pick and predictions as we preview the Warriors vs. Timberwolves on March 24, with tip-off set for 7:00 a.m. ET.

Warriors vs Timberwolves Predictions
Quite simply, this line is surprisingly short. If the Minnesota Timberwolves hadn’t played and played well on Friday, so maybe a gap like this would have made sense. The Timberwolves needed this 104-91 win over the Cavaliers to comfortably know Rudy Gobert And Naz Reid were back in the lineup.
Minnesota had survived the last 1.5 games without a true NBA center and the last three games without the certain Defensive Player of the Year. While the Timberwolves went 2-1 during that stretch and 3-0 against the spread, there’s not much you can rely on while playing. Kyle Anderson And Lucas Garza like your inner presences.
Gobert and Reid returned to the lineup Friday, the latter getting a rare start with the distribution of a beach towel with his name in massive letters. Minnesota held Cleveland below 100 points for just the eighth time this season.
Partly because of those injuries, partly because of the continued absence of Karl-Anthony Towns due to meniscus surgery, the Timberwolves don’t appear to be a title contender as of late. Over the past three weeks, they rank just 11th in net rating. Yet they went 6-3 outright and against the spread during that stretch. Minnesota is still looking for ways to produce results.
That’s the mark of a great team.
This is what the Warriors of the Golden State they enjoyed it again in February. Golden State ranked No. 3 in the NBA in net rating from February 1-March 2. Sure, he trailed Minnesota, which is causing some intrigue today in particular, but on a broader scale, the Warriors seemed to be putting people on notice.
Then came March, and Golden State revealed that it was exactly what we thought it was, an imperfect roster with aging and mercurial pieces. When the Dubs find their rhythm, they remind us of the 2010s. When they don’t, they look like a team that’s going to lose in the Play-In tournament.
In 10 games since March 3, the Warriors have ranked 17th in the NBA in net rating, 6.4 fewer points per 100 possessions than the Timberwolves.
It can be argued that the decline was entirely due to Stephen CurryThe ankle injury. By StatMuse, Golden State has a net rating of +2.6 in Curry’s last 10 games. He missed three during the March stretch due to a troubled ankle, and yes, the Warriors’ net rating was -4.4 in those three games.
But the same arguments can be made that Gobert’s absence caused Minnesota’s numbers to plummet. The Timberwolves played three games with Garza as the main part of the rotation and the defensive rating naturally dropped.
A gap in a bucket would make sense if Curry was in and Gobert was out. With Gobert back — and Friday proved he’s truly back, without rushing onto the field prematurely — then that number should be -3.5 or -4 given Minnesota is at home and had a slightly more relaxed schedule last week than Golden State. .
My best bet: Timber Wolves -2.5 (-105 at BetMGM)
Parlay Warriors vs Timberwolves in the same match
Gobert is assured of his fourth Defensive Player of the Year rewards this season. His return alone should instill confidence in a Minnesota defense that is — look, it’s just a truth, this isn’t meant to be a knock — better without Towns. The loss of Gobert for three games has the Timberwolves concerned, and their defensive rating is two points lower in six games without him this season.
Mike Conley has picked up some of the scoring load without Towns, averaging 13.7 points in 10 games without Towns and 10.5 with him this year. It took a few games to recognize that he should fill that need, scoring in single digits in the first three games since Towns’ meniscus injury, then averaging 17.2 over the next five games, erasing that prop points in four of these five matches.

Spread Warriors vs Timberwolves and Over/Under analysis
This line has moved in one direction over the past 24 hours. It opened Saturday afternoon with the Warriors as 4.5-point underdogs at FanDuel, the only widely available book to open this game before dark. When others presented it to the board, the consensus placed Golden State as a 2.5-point underdog.
The first number would have made more sense, and there are no lingering injury concerns surrounding the Timberwolves.
Anthony Edwards and Gobert are the two Minnesota players who could move a line that much. Edwards suffers from almost every ailment he suffers from, and Gobert’s absence would create a sharp increase in the total…from 217.5 Saturday to 219.5 Sunday morning.
Again, the expectation is that Gobert will be ready to go, but these numbers raise eyebrows. Most likely, the total is simply too high.
