After winning just 15 games last season, the Wizards are projected to once again be one of the worst teams in the NBA once the 2024-25 season begins. A recent national debate predicted which teams would win the fewest games next season, and Washington was the unanimous choice.

The Wizards, along with the Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers and Brooklyn Nets, are expected to be the four worst teams in the league, with the Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets also recognized. When you look at each team’s transactions since the end of last season, you start to see why they are once again considered the bottom of the rankings.

The Nets actually won 32 games last year, but they’re in the midst of a rebuild after trading star forward Mikal Bridges to the Knicks in the offseason. Zaire Williams, Trendon Watford, Bojan Bogdanovic and Shake Milton are all Nets now, but none of them are expected to have a serious impact on the win/loss column.

The Pistons had a league-low 14 wins last year and don’t expect to be very competitive next season. They’ve brought in veterans like Malik Beasley, Tobias Harris and Tim Hardaway Jr., but none of them represent franchise-changing talent. New head coach J.B. Bickerstaff has his work cut out for him with an extremely young and untested roster.

The Blazers won 21 games last season but didn’t really add much to their roster, aside from trading former Wizard Deni Avdija. Without significantly improving their roster, don’t expect a much different season.

As mentioned above, the Wizards traded Avdija to the Trail Blazers and signed forward Saddiq Bey as a free agent this summer. They won just 15 games last year and are in the midst of a rebuild focused on developing young players and acquiring draft capital.
