WWE icon Ric Flair challenged Minnesota Timberwolves basketball player Rudy Gobert to a one-on-one match. The 16-time retired WWE superstar made an appearance during an NBA game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Timberwolves that took place today, March 9, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
With the Cavaliers leading the game 54-50, Flair extended an unprecedented invitation to Timberwolves star Gobert for a one-on-one. The video was shared on Instagram by a page called Basketball Coverage. The post read: “I never thought I’d post a post like this, but here we are.”
Gobert has been a phenomenal player in the NBA this season. He is currently one of the favorite candidates for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.
Despite a brilliant season, Gobert had an unforgettable night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was roasted by fans for botching a simple dunk in the game that should have been an easy two-pointer for the basketball star because he completely missed the rim. The buzzer sounded and his follow-up snap didn’t count, leaving Rocket Mortgage Arena laughing at the hilarious miss. Gobert finished the game with 17 rebounds and seven points, which just wasn’t enough to seal the victory for his team.

The Cleveland Cavaliers won 113-104 in the evening against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game took place at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
The duo of Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland combined for 67 points for the Cavaliers, sealing a comfortable victory for their team. Allen pulled down 18 rebounds in the game while Garland chipped in with eight assists. As for the Timberwolves, Naz Reid had his team’s best performance against the Cavaliers. He scored 34 points with five rebounds and two assists in the game.
Gobert didn’t get off to the best start in his first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He hit teammate Kyle Anderson in a key game and was initially seen as a botched signing. However, the big Frenchman has completely turned his season around to become one of the leading contenders for Defensive Player of the Year.
The Minnesota Timberwolves currently sit in second place in the NBA’s Western Conference. They have won 44 games this season and lost 20. The Timberwolves next face the Los Angeles Lakers on March 11 at Crypto.com Arena.
