The Brooklyn Nets knew they were getting a player with untapped potential in Ziaire Williams when they traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this offseason.

Williams, who turns 23 this month, is making a fresh start with a new team after three on-again, off-again years with the Grizzlies.

Williams is now expected to get plenty of playing time on a rebuilding Nets team, where he can add a lot.

“Definitely versatility in defense, starting with going from one to four, protecting the backs, protecting the forwards,” Williams said via HoopsHype writer Cyro Asseo of Choch“On offense, I have to speed up, be a lob threat, shoot threes, cut. I think I could be like a Swiss Army knife, just being used in different areas. And personally, I love being on the floor, man. Coach could put me in any position, and as long as I’m on the floor and helping my team in a positive way, I’m a happy man.”

Williams averaged 8.2 points per game last season, but that number could increase if he becomes more efficient. And with a potentially larger role in the offense, Williams could prove to many why he was a top-10 pick when he first entered the league.
