As the offseason continues, Minnesota Timberwolves fans can start looking to the future National team players are preparing for the next important date on their team’s calendar: the start of training camp. Currently, each registered player is continuing his or her own off-season workouts in order to be in the best possible shape for the upcoming season. For the remainder of August and most of September, players will likely be off on their own.
But in just over a month, training camp will begin, marking the return of all Timberwolves players to Minnesota. The team will come together as a whole to participate in group conditioning drills, be evaluated by the coaching staff and begin to develop a general strategy for the year ahead.
Training camp is sort of the unofficial starting point for every new season. This article will provide Timberwolves fans with this year’s training camp dates, as well as other relevant preseason dates to keep an eye on.
Timberwolves Official Start Date
The Timberwolves will officially begin training camp on Oct. 1. That date comes just three days before the team’s scheduled preseason opener against the Los Angeles Lakers in Palm Springs, Calif. Minnesota will then host the 76ers at the Iowa Wolves’ arena in Des Moines, before traveling to New York and Chicago. They will finish the preseason at home against the Nuggets. The Wolves’ players will have a relatively short rotation time between the start of camp and the start of the preseason.
Training Camp Location
Some teams hold their training camps in far-flung locations, but it appears the Timberwolves will hold their 2024 camp at home in Minnesota. Most of the team’s activities will likely take place at the organization’s practice facility, The Courts at Mayo Clinic Square, located in downtown Minneapolis and directly across the street from Target Center.
Media Day
Every NBA team holds a media day before the start of the season, which is essentially the team’s first public appearance of the season. Local media and national reporters will gather to talk to players and coaches and get a sense of where each team stands.
Timberwolves Media Day is currently scheduled for Monday, September 30. Fans can expect to hear their favorite players answer questions, see new official photos of players in full game uniforms and even see some team-building activities and original interviews that are common during this time.
This week of action will of course be important for the newcomers. Joe Ingles, Rob Dillingham and Terrence Shannon Jr. will have their first experience with their entire team, and the relationships between the newcomers and veterans will certainly strengthen.
Unlike last offseason, the Timberwolves enter the upcoming season without any major injuries. Rudy Gobert’s finger injury from the Olympics may be the team’s only notable injury, and it should likely be resolved by the start of training camp.
After a spectacular season last year and the arrival of some new names, Minnesota will take advantage of this period to find its rhythm and resume its quest for the championship.
