THE Houston Rockets continue to fight back as they have won nine games in a row to get back above .500 for the first time in over two months.
Despite a 36-35 record, they are still out of the Play-In tournament, but only 0.5 games separate them from the 10th-seeded Golden State Warriors.
The winning streak also caused an uptick in CBS Sports’ latest power rankings. The Rockets are now No. 17 instead of No. 19.
“Well, well, look who’s back above .500 for the first time since January and just a half-game out of last place in the Play-In Tournament,” CBS Sports writes. “It’s been a tremendous run from the Rockets, who have won nine straight games and put a lot of pressure on the current 10th-place Warriors. During the stretch, Houston scored 123 points per 100 possessions with a plus-14 net rating. Jalen Green has continued his offensive onslaught since Alperen Sengun’s injury, averaging 34 points this week on 51/46/82 shooting. It’s fun.”
Houston’s wins so far won’t mean anything if the team isn’t able to continue winning down the stretch. With 11 games remaining, the Rockets likely need to win seven or eight games to ensure they clinch a spot in the Play-In tournament.
THE Rockets hope to continue their streak when they visit the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow. The team then heads west to face the Utah Jazz on Friday before returning home to face the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
